Role Description:

The Product Development team is responsible for driving sales by working closely with the marketing team to bring forth a balanced assortment of the freshest designs to inspire our customers. This team is also responsible for ensuring that the shopping experience is seamless, by keeping the right items in stock, and that our quality is maintained at a level that impresses our customers and ensures the best experience possible for them.

As an Associate Planner/Buyer, you will be an essential support to the Product Development team and will gain exposure to an array of diverse business units. You will work cross-functionally with virtually all teams at N&S and will have a chance to work with leadership. Planner/buyers are primarily responsible for the planning for and acquisition of company materials and services, management of vendors, and monitoring the flow of goods and services in our supply chain. Quality, on-time delivery, and cost management are critical to the success of the company and are the main priorities of the Associate Planner/Buyer.


  • Act as our planner/buyer to keep existing and new products in stock.
  • Set reorder points and work with our Inventory Specialist to keep them appropriately set.
  • Forecast and place buys on current and new products.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and cost concerns.
  • Own logistics of ins and outs.
  • Analyze costs and negotiate prices for goods and services (freight).
  • Monitor existing orders to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Expedite supplier orders as required to support production.
  • Communicate supply chain information to other departments and management.
  • Coordinate with our Production team to ensure an on-time and smooth launch of product assortments.
  • Monitor our inventory balance and analyze sell through.
  • Analyze buying performance against sales.
  • Assist in preparing for and executing the assortment process.
  • Assist in building a line plan for seasonal assortments.
  • Maintain a product grid including basic product information, sku creation, price, and related information.
  • Complete ad hoc analytical projects as requested.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of work experience working experience in buying, planning, procurement role, and/or inventory management
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • A love for data and the ability to analyze a problem, using the data to articulate a recommendation, and take action accordingly
  • A clear understanding of financial retail measurements and how to impact them
  • Experience in e-commerce and understanding of e-commerce performance metrics and conversion drivers are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to multitask and meet deadlines while still paying attention to details and executing flawlessly
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
