With Love from Mexico - Nickel & Suede

With Love from Mexico

Whether I'm  going away on spring break with the family or retreating to a resort on a tropical getaway- what to pack is always at the top of my list. I recently spent a week in Mexico and was able to put together some warm-weather looks featuring my favorite pieces from our resort collection. Today I'm going to share resort style outfit inspiration as well as which earring and accessory styles to consider for your next vacation.

1. Keep it neutral and play with texture. When I'm dressing for the heat or for Summer, I don't always go for bright colors. I love olive, cream, white, and beige. I use that palette to put together a summery look with a blend of beachy textures. Our raffia earrings in black and white or all beige are both stunning and add a texture contrast, while still being lightweight. I also tried a rope sandal or a raffia hat as other ways to accessorize with texture.

2. Experiement with stripes and layering. I love a bold stripe when I'm getting dressed on holiday. Black and white is usually my go-to and it pairs well with all of my other pieces. This trip I wore a black and white swimsuit, a sheer coverup and these bold raffia earrings

3. Use shades of green like jade and citron for unexpected color pairings. Green is one of my favorite colors- always, but for this trip, it really paired well with my other resort favorites. I fell in love with this citron dress and how well the color paired with our Cool Jade Ninas. I wasn't initially planning on the Birkenstocks, but they ended up being perfect for a party on the beach.

4. Go bold with your tropical prints. It wouldn't be a beach vacation without a beachy, tropical printed peice in the suitcase. Farm Rio is one of my go-to brands for beachy prints and this full floral dress is nearly a statement enough. I paired it with Hammered Gold Leos for a bold, complimenting accessory and I did get multiple compliments on them!

5. Try a wide leg satin pant or set. Wide-leg pants are a great alternative to shorts or skirts, as they're very on-trend this season. Look for pants in lightweight fabrics like satin, linen or cotton, and pair them with a simple tank or blouse. For bonus points pick a color that pairs perfectly with your swim top! My favorite raffia hoops are a great choice to pair with this set.

As you pack for your next trip, I hope these ideas inspire some of your own outfits. Don't forget to accessorize your resort wear with hats, sunglasses, and jewelry. A wide-brimmed hat and oversized sunglasses are both a must on my packing list, as well as simple jewelry like statement earrings or a delicate necklace to finish any outfit.
Be sure to pin or save these looks for your next getaway!
XO, Kilee
